Best time to Visit Switzerland
You are always welcome to Switzerland!
Switzerland enjoys a moderate climate i.e. it is neither extremely hot, cold or humidity. Any time is the best time to visit the country, but it depends on what you want to do, see and experience. To be specific, June and September to mid-October might be the ideal time for your trip. If you are plan well, you’ll have an amazing trip regardless of the time of year.
January-February (High winter season) – This is a great time for winter sports and comfy city trips.
March (Early Spring season) – March is the best time for skiing. A period with first signs of spring observed in warmer regions like Lake Geneva and the Ticino. Although it’s somewhat chilly in most of the other areas.
April/May (Low season) – More and more hiking trails will be accessible. This is actually a good time: you can watch the remains of winter as well as green valleys too.
June (Early summer season) is the start of the vacation season in Switzerland and the months of July and August (High summer season) are the top seasons, when popular locations are busy with tourists from all around the world. Hiking, biking, paragliding and other sports, peak viewing are the famous outdoor activities of the season. Lake Lucerne, Jungfrau, Swiss Rivera, Canton Valais, and Bernese Oberland are the best places for the season.
September (Ideal for outdoor activities) and October (Low season) are best months for outdoor activities. The last weeks of September are renown for the Switzerland grape harvest festival. Vinorama in the Lavaux vineyards (Lake Geneva) is a unique Swiss region where one can always taste wine and learn about grape farming.
November (Low season): It’s the low season…ranging from mild wintry days to days with snowfall; still anything is possible. High winter sport resorts like Zermatt and Verbier may open, but one can never be sure.
December (Celebration season): It is a great time to do Christmas marketing, and for mesmerising city expeditions to Zurich, Lucerne, and Bern.
